This course is intended to improve students’ abilities to develop scholarship that crosses disciplinary boundaries, while exposing them to significant debates within the field of archaeology. Students in this course should begin to evaluate how their own research will be situated within either a comparative framework in the study of ancient societies or a more particular set of concerns within a particular tradition, civilization or culture.

It is also a high priority for this course to provide students with the opportunity to continue to develop their skills in oral presentation, critique of scholarly work, written argumentation and interpretive reasoning.
