Zachary Nelson currently works for ENTRIX, Inc. in their Salt Lake City office as a Senior Archaeologist. He received his advanced degrees from Brigham Young University (Master's, 2000) and Pennsylvania State University (Ph.D. 2005).

His interests include Ancient Maya writing, settlement structure, and the use of technology in archaeological endeavors.

His projects include Kaminaljuyu, Piedras Negras, Teotihuacan and now El Zotz. In the United States, Dr. Nelson has been involved with archaeological field projects in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming.
